Tuscany wine tours inspiration
You can’t take a wine tour in Tuscany without tasting some of the region’s very best wines. Be sure to sample all the original favorites like Sassicaia, Tignanello, Castello di Ama L’Apparita and Brunello di Montalcino. There’s also the delicious Ornellaia, Castello di Nipozzano Montesodi and Isole e Olena Chianti Classico. Why not try them all?
While you can see the highlights of Tuscany in a few days, it’s a good idea to spend a week in this region to soak up both the cities, wineries and gorgeous countryside. Start with the famous cities like Florence, Pisa, Siena and Lucca, then journey through the scenic Tuscan Hills to the famous spa town of Montecatini and the medieval town of San Gimignano.
Tuscany is one of the most famous wine regions in the world, best known for its dry red wines made from Sangiovese, the signature red grape found all over Tuscany’s hillside vineyards. Try the renowned 100% Sangiovese wine of Brunello di Montalcino, or the Chianti and Vino Nobile di Montepulciano wines with at least 70% Sangiovese.
Tuscany is at its best in Spring (April to May) with blooming landscapes and pleasant weather, and autumn (September to October) when the rolling hills glow with golden foliage and the best wineries in Tuscany begin harvesting their grapes. Summer (June to August) is also a peak time with fields full of sunflowers, fruit trees and long, sunny days.
